Microsoft and Mobile Phone Manufacturers such AS HTC, Nokia and Sony Ericsson, Have Opposed the Sole use of the Trademark Apple App Store. Companies Have filed a Joint Appeal to the European Commission.
Redmond and other IT players are trying to deny Apple the rights to its registered trademark App Store on the grounds that it is impossible to prove its unique distinctiveness: that is the name speaks directly to the store with applications that only confirms the universality of the brand for these services and the inability to use as a separate brand.
Apple registered trademark of the App Store in July of 2008 – Slightly later start iPhone App Store. In January 2011 Microsoft has asked US regulators to cancel this registration because of the universality of the term – Apple said that the trademark Windows no less universal.
