According to what reported by the Wall Street Journal , Samsung became the largest maker of smartphones in the world dethroning Apple .
“ Samsung has shipped over 20 million smartphones in the quarter ended Sept. 30 - the WSJ reports - beating both Apple and Nokia, the largest producer in the world for books. The Korean company has enjoyed strong demand for smartphones , high-end phones that consumers can use to watch videos, download movies and send e-mail. The company is also leveraging the popularity of Google’s Android operating system and is intensifying the production of devices based on your OS, Bada and Windows Phone . ”
The numbers from Samsung, however, refers only to shipments while the data to Apple’s actual sales. There’s also worth noting that Apple produces only one type of smartphone, the iPhone, while Samsung relies on a very broad portfolio of smartphones.
